About The Position

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting railroad diagnostic and monitoring systems across North America. This role involves a significant amount of travel, with a minimum requirement of 65% for both domestic and international travel. The technician will perform installations, configurations, and maintenance of equipment onsite, monitor site performance, and report mechanical failures. A key part of the role is diagnosing and resolving technical issues for Machine Vision equipment, keeping detailed records of service calls, installations, and repairs, and providing remote support when necessary. The technician will also troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components, train customers on equipment usage and maintenance, and perform annual maintenance calibrations. Adherence to railroad industry regulations and safety protocols is crucial. The role also includes performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical disciplines with minimum of 2 - 3 years of relevant field experience.
  • Ability to use Electronics Test Equipment (Multimeter, RJ45 Cable Tester, Oscilloscope)
  • Computer Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Can create instructions documentation
  • Strong customer service skills while on the phone / onsite
  • Able to use some common mechanical tools (Wrenches, drill, and heavy-duty tools)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. in the field
  • Excellent Communication (Verbal and Written)

Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining equipment onsite
  • Site monitoring and reporting of mechanical failures of system components
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues for all Machine Vision equipment in the field
  • Keeping records of service calls (Jira Tickets), installations, and Maintenance Service repairs
  • Diagnosing and solving problems efficiently while on-site/remote support
  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical components
  • Training customers on the proper use and maintenance of equipment
  • Performing Annual Maintenance Calibration (KinetiX Machine Vision Systems)
  • Following railroad industry regulations and safety protocols while working on-site
  • Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Attention to detail while in the field to spot mechanical defects
