About The Position

Marathon Electric is a leading manufacturer of industrial alternators and power generation solutions. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for troubleshooting and repair of industrial alternators and associated electrical/mechanical systems at customer sites. The ideal candidate is hands-on, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in the field with frequent travel.

Requirements

• Minimum 2–5 years of field service experience, ideally with alternators, generators, or rotating equipment
• Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, controls, and power generation equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot using multimeters, diagnostic tools, and testing equipment
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in bearings, alignment, and rotating assemblies
• Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (up to 100%)

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field
• Experience with industrial alternators or synchronous generators
• Knowledge of PLC systems and control panels
• OSHA or safety certifications

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues with power generation components
• Ensure delivered-quality compliance to engineering specifications and customer requirements
• Provide on-site technical support and training to customers
• Collaborate with engineering and internal teams to resolve complex technical issues
• Prepare detailed service reports, documenting work performed and findings
