About The Position

The Field Service Technician role is responsible for providing excellent on-site and remote customer support. This involves understanding customer needs, collecting project documentation, identifying areas for internal and customer improvement, and updating customer project documentation on the company's file network as needed. The technician plays a key part in managing or executing both internal and external activities related to service visits.

Requirements

  • Mechanical experience.
  • Electromechanical system troubleshooting experience.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical technical classes or experience.
  • 2+ years of field service experience on industrial equipment.
  • Experience using PC software including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a dynamic field service environment.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ethical character competencies.
  • Critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment with excellent communication.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to constantly climb, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach above shoulder when working with equipment, material loading and unloading, and other related tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking level with or without correction.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of GP Reeves equipment at customer locations.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and address customer inquiries regarding technical issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, identifying the root cause and implementing effective solutions.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure the ongoing reliability of equipment and prevent future issues.
  • Collaborate with the customer and internal teams to schedule service visits.
  • Provide clear and detailed documentation of service activities, including reports on repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist customers with the installation and start-up of new machines.
  • Provide remote customer support via phone, email, and virtual channels.
  • Quote spare parts and replacement parts.
  • Train customers on proper use and routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in the testing and validation of new products or upgrades in the field.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies while performing field service.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance onsite at our workplace or customer/client locations.
  • Meet physical demands and perform essential job functions within the work environment, including travel requirements.
