About The Position

The Field Service Technician (Retail/3rd Party AMS) is responsible for the service and/or maintenance of customer-owned compression equipment. This role reports to the 3rd Party Services Supervisor and operates with minimal supervision and significant autonomy. Key responsibilities include safely performing scheduled maintenance, maintaining and building customer relationships, and providing first-line support for equipment troubleshooting. USAC employees are expected to maintain a safe, professional, and positive work environment that aligns with the company's Pillars culture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to legally work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver’s license with a DMV history acceptable to USAC.
  • Capable of safely driving commercial size truck.
  • Excellent customer service and positive communication skills are critical to succeed in this role.
  • Solid professional communication/interface skills with customer field personnel, onsite vendors, and other employees.
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently with little to no supervision.
  • High degree of mechanical ability.
  • Experience reading and understanding technical manuals.
  • Experience in configuring natural gas compression equipment.
  • Ability and flexibility to work extended hours including periodic on-call weekends.
  • Ability to understand written/ verbal communication from the company and supervisor including training, procedures, instructions, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical/trade school certification or additional work experience in related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in gas compression industry.
  • Preference to CAT, Ariel and/or Cummins certifications and experience.
  • Experience with CAT 3500, 3600 engines, Waukesha VHP engines, and Cummins KTA engines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and overhaul-related tasks on compression equipment.
  • Understand and follow the company handbook along with all company/customer safety and environmental policies.
  • Accurately gather and prepare data for reports critical to unit operations by assigned deadlines.
  • Respond quickly to supervisor or customer inquiries.
  • Work closely with the customer and supervisor on major repairs; escalate when necessary based on protocol.
  • Maintain and operate company vehicle according to company guidelines.
  • Work with sales team to identify new sales or equipment opportunities.
  • Maintain and/or partner with the parts department to ensure sufficient parts.
  • Keep each unit clean following good housekeeping rules and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Maintain large or small horsepower units, gas lift or traditional compression units along with other related equipment associated with our business.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
