About The Position

Travels to locations across the U.S. and Canada repairing and adding electrical and assembly components to generator enclosures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Electrician license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with customers on phone, by email, and in person to aid in onsite assembly and onsite issues.
  • Estimates repair costs.
  • Records repair work performed and the costs of the work.
  • Travel to customer sites to aid in installation and troubleshooting. Travel includes US and Canada and may be up to 75-100% of time.
  • Assembles functional parts of enclosures and tanks using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
  • May be qualified in the use of forklifts, cranes and other lifting apparatus and lifts to aide in the assembly process.
  • Develops work instructions from general description. Confers with supervisor, engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve assembly problems.
  • Assembles, installs and/or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble product both in the shop and on site.
  • Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.
