Field Service Technician
About The Position
Since 1917, Globe Machine has been a manufacturer of industrial machines, systems, and plants for advanced composites, building products, and pulp & paper. This role is for individuals who have built a career installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or servicing industrial equipment and are comfortable with frequent travel. In this role, you'll work on one-of-a-kind industrial systems with opportunities to see facilities around the world and become the face of Globe Machine to customers. The role involves approximately 70-80% travel, with typical trips ranging from 1-3 weeks, including domestic and international travel. Travel days are paid, and a company credit card will be provided for incidentals. The company encourages employees to keep their airline and hotel loyalty points. A passport and TWIC card are required. While Globe Machine Manufacturing is located in Tacoma, WA, remote roles are available for this position which travels extensively and for extended periods of time both domestically and internationally.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience in field service, installation, maintenance, or repair
- Comfort reading blueprints and electrical/pneumatic schematics
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, use hand/power/precision tools, and work independently with minimal supervision
- A valid passport or willingness to obtain one, and ability to get a TWIC card.
Nice To Haves
- Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC experience
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD strongly preferred
- Background in material handling equipment, wood products, or paper industries
Responsibilities
- Assist on shop floor assembling the equipment you'll be onsite installing and servicing.
- Prepare service quotes.
- Support customers by phone on installed equipment.
- Build detailed plans for upcoming installs.
- Supervise equipment installations and the crews involved (in-house, customer, and outside contractors).
- Train customer staff on operating and maintaining Globe equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Keep customers and your manager updated with clear daily reports.
