Experienced Field Service Technician
About The Position
Reliable Door and Dock, a Vortex Doors Company, is a commercial overhead door and loading dock equipment service and installation company headquartered in Jackson, Wisconsin. Field Service Technicians install, service, and maintain overhead doors, loading docks, dock levelers, specialty doors, equipment, accessories, and related hardware. They work at customer facilities and outdoors in varying weather, with some work in an office setting. The position requires customer service, accurate service documentation, and attention to installation quality and safety. Candidates must be willing and able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Requirements
- Three or more years of experience installing or servicing overhead doors and docks, or similar mechanical, electrical, construction, or field service experience.
- Strong working knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically.
- Ability to work well both on a team and independently.
- Strong communication skills with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including manuals, installation guides, drawings, schematics, and safety information.
- Solid math skills, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals across units of measure, and accurate use of a tape measure.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the insurance carrier’s eligibility requirements.
- Willingness and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Install and service overhead doors, docks, dock levelers, springs, cables, and related hardware.
- Set up and maintain commercial and industrial specialty doors, equipment, and accessories.
- Check jobs for proper installation, clearance, and balance.
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer questions honestly and courteously.
- Write accurate, complete job notes, service tickets, and work summaries.
- Drive a company vehicle to customer sites.
