About The Position

Oil States Energy Services is currently hiring for a Wireline/Pressure Control Field Service Technician at our Houma, LA location. This position is primarily OFFSHORE. A Field Service Technician (FST) is primarily responsible for the installation, operation, repair, removal, and maintenance of company tools and other oilfield equipment. The position has various levels (FST I Trainee, FST I, FST II, FST III, FST IV) with increasing responsibilities and experience requirements, including potential for supervision and customer interaction.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel to other facilities, if required.
  • Ability to think quickly in emergency type of situations on job site locations.
  • Ability to operate hand tools.
  • Basic math and algebra skills.
  • Must have mechanical abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Familiar with a variety of field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to travel for an extensive number of days and be on call 24/7.
  • Must maintain a safe driving record as prescribed by company policy.
  • Must successfully pass pre- and post-employment drug and alcohol tests per company policy.
  • May require a class A CDL driver’s license; always maintain and carry a current D.O.T. medical card.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Minimum 1 year of O&G product line experience (FST II).
  • Minimum 2 years of O&G product line experience (FST III).

Responsibilities

  • Installation, operation, repair, removal, and maintenance of company tools and other oilfield equipment.
  • Communicate with management daily regarding job changes, equipment needs, timelines, job issues, quality issues, customer concerns, and employee concerns.
  • Abide by all Oil States Energy Services, LLC Safety and Operational Policies and Procedures, and abide by all DOT requirements.
  • Understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies.
  • Abide by all Customer Safety policies and procedures while on customers job site.
  • Drive and operate mobile crane truck, pickup and trailer to deliver tools over state lines up to 70% of the time depending on district location.
  • Regularly inspect company equipment for preventative maintenance purposes.
  • Assure proper operation, maintenance, applications, and document repairs and/or damages of company equipment in a timely manner.
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner as required by company and supervisor, including preparation and timely submission of accurate and thorough completion of job reports, driving logs, trip reports and call sheets.
  • Perform maintenance and reports on all company vehicles, and/or company owned and rental equipment.
  • Communicate with service company and oil company personnel.
  • Oversee job site services and provide direction to onsite labor when needed.
  • Assist in job action planning with customer on location.
  • Ensure proper delivery of product.
  • Assist in the shop and make deliveries when available.
  • Stay up to date on all required training (including, but not limited to, HSE, customer required, etc.).
  • Train and mentor less experienced employees.
  • Assist in pre-job safety meetings to include review of job safety analysis (JSA) process.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with District Manager and Operations District before, during and after job completion.
  • Ensure management is informed of area activities and attends meetings as required.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with various customers regarding job updates, problems, tool procedures, and hazards on job site locations.
  • Learn SOP’s and work instructions per respective product line.
  • Learn hand signals for job site (crane operation and vehicles).
  • Complete all product line knowledge testing per requirements to progress to next level.
  • Supervise employees and third-party vendors while on location (FST IV).
  • Act as Point of contact with Customer/Company Man on any job assigned to oversee (FST IV).
  • Oversee and supervise equipment in the yard as it is being prepared for a job (FST IV).
  • Sign off that all tools and equipment are correctly loaded and ready for the current or upcoming job (FST IV).
  • Conduct location pre-frac meetings with third party vendors and company representatives (FST IV).
