About The Position

Field Service Technician (Construction Equipment) Are you an experienced diesel or heavy construction equipment technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems and working independently? SEI is looking for a skilled Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, maintain, and commission heavy construction equipment at customer job sites near Harrisburg facility. If you're passionate about troubleshooting, delivering quality workmanship, and providing exceptional customer service, we'd like to hear from you. As a Service Technician, you'll work with industry-leading equipment, utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, and enjoy the independence of working directly with customers while being supported by an experienced service team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment, paving equipment, road maintenance equipment, or other diesel-powered machinery.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must provide and maintain a personal set of professional mechanic's hand tools required to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain components.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience using OEM diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment.
  • Ability to read hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls.
  • Professional attitude with a commitment to quality and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree or certification in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience servicing construction, paving, or road maintenance equipment.
  • CDL (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment in the field and at SEI facilities.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, powertrain components, and electronic controls.
  • Complete preventative maintenance inspections and warranty repairs.
  • Test equipment after repairs to ensure peak performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Respond to emergency service calls to minimize customer downtime.
  • Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical bulletins.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Operate and maintain a company service truck, tools, and parts inventory.
  • Accurately complete work orders, service reports, inspection forms, and warranty documentation.
  • Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status professionally with customers.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
