About The Position

The Field Service Technician V (Site Lead) is an expert-level professional who provides unparalleled technical support, maintenance, and repair services for the most complex systems. This role demands exceptional leadership, advanced diagnostic abilities, and the capacity to oversee the most challenging field projects independently. The technician will also be instrumental in developing training programs and leading high-level technical teams. This is a senior-level position that involves performing expert-level technical maintenance, repair, and support for complex systems. This role requires advanced diagnostic skills, leadership abilities, and the capacity to manage field projects independently. The FST Site Lead will also play a key role in developing training materials and protocols for both customers and internal teams. This role is responsible for the deployment, high-level maintenance, and systems integration of Counter-UAS (C-UAS) and ISR technologies for Department of Defense (DoD) programs. You will be the primary technical expert for the WESCAM MX-15 imaging system and integrated detection sensors across fixed-wing, rotary, and ground-based platforms. This position is a DEPLOY ONLY role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 7+ years of experience as a technician or in a related field. Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Ability to understand and interpret basic technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Progressive experience using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Advanced experience with the practical application of troubleshooting techniques.
  • Advanced electrical wiring skills.
  • Ability to frequently travel outside the continental US, typically for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.
  • Current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.
  • Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 60/60 rotation
  • A United States Government Security Clearance is required for employment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.

  • Ability to read detailed technical manuals, schematics, and computer screens.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
  • Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments, such as industrial sites or construction areas.
  • Ability to detect auditory signals from machinery or equipment, which may indicate issues.
  • Ability to navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel to customer locations.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience in a Lead role; the ability to mentor, train, guide and inspect the work of subordinates.
  • Experience with FCC or FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
  • Prior experience with Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or A+.
  • Basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope, and/or Pilot Static equipment gauges.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with MX-Series (specifically MX-15) maintenance and software interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of Detection/Tracking technologies, including RF sensors and EO/IR hand-off procedures.
  • Strong Network Architecture skills (TCP/IP, switching, routing).
  • Expertise in Aircraft/Mobile Electrical Systems (AC/DC power distribution).
  • Experience using Spectrum Analyzers, TDRs, and Multimeters for signal and wire fault isolation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Diesel Engine power generation units and environmental control units (ECUs) supporting mobile ISR/C-UAS platforms.
  • Provide technical support for specialized C-UAS Radar units, ensuring high-probability detection of Group 1 and 2 UAS threats in contested environments.
  • Basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope, and/or Pitot Static equipment gauges.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
  • Experience in leading technical teams or projects.
  • Direct POC for all Theater-wide activity.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with senior leadership and interact with Government customers regularly
  • Experience with Diesel engine service for ground support equipment (GSE).
  • Prior experience as a 94M (Radar Repairer), 15F (Aircraft Electrician), or equivalent AFSC/Rating.
  • An FAA Airframe and Powerplant license is a significant advantage for aircraft-based C-UAS integration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, calibration, and LRU-level repair of WESCAM MX-15 EO/IR sensors.
  • Integrate these with C-UAS detection suites including Radar, RF Scanners, and Acoustic sensors to provide a fused Common Operational Picture (COP).
  • Configure and troubleshoot complex IP-based Command and Control (C2) networks.
  • Ensure robust data-link connectivity (SATCOM, Line-of-Sight, LTE) between the aircraft/sensor node and ground control stations.
  • Perform advanced electrical service and maintenance, including troubleshooting and upgrading or ground-unit wiring systems.
  • Must be proficient in pinning connectors, wire routing, and reading complex DoD-standard schematics.
  • Perform expert-level maintenance and repairs on complex aerospace and defense systems.
  • Independently manage field service projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Diagnose and resolve the most challenging technical issues.
  • Lead and mentor junior and mid-level technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Develop and deliver advanced training programs for customers and internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all field activities and equipment status.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Oversee inventory management for spare parts and tools.
  • Generate comprehensive technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Travel extensively to customer sites, including international locations.
