About The Position

This role supports field service operations within Sungrow USA, focusing on commissioning, warranty, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for the expanding installed sites in the region. Reporting to the regional field service supervisor, this position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning support of PV inverters and ancillary equipment/systems, typically at the customer’s site or a staging yard/warehouse. The role requires strict adherence to the "ZERO HARM" Safety Mandate to ensure safe and efficient work for all personnel and equipment, prioritizing safety issues and implementing safety management policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving abilities.
  • A ‘completer-finisher’ taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts.
  • 3 plus years of overall experience in a technical field.
  • 2 years of experience in solar inverters or BESS.
  • Must possess the ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required.
  • Must be able to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the duties of the job.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • OSHA, NFPA70A, Electrical Safety knowledge.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Renewable industry experience is desired.
  • Power Electronics experience is desired.
  • OSHA 10 certificate within 12 months of date of hire.
  • NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire.
  • Experience and/or certification with MV transformers a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical assignments involving installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of string and central solar inverters, BESS Systems, PCS, batteries, and ancillary equipment.
  • Perform general troubleshooting and diagnosis according to Sungrow’s maintenance and repair guidelines.
  • Support and perform pre-commissioning (with and without grid emulator) and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems within schedule and work plans.
  • For O&M roles, perform Preventive Maintenance and other Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) activities per contract.
  • Investigate solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients. For BESS positions, investigations may include SOC checks, module/component-level troubleshooting, electrical/electronic part replacement, and SW version updates.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and project teams on potential mechanical and electrical design improvements.
  • Lead field upgrade/rework projects (software and hardware), interact with customers to explain technical scope, and manage work schedules.
  • Collaborate with customer SCADA engineers to set up system communication and parameters for Sungrow’s controllers and F&G systems.
  • Accurately describe observed troubleshooting sequences and procedures.
  • Identify and document basic mechanical and electrical issues and problems.
  • Perform basic corrective maintenance.
  • Create/modify Field Service procedures for safety, troubleshooting, and maintenance as required.
  • Act as Lead when using contractors on sites, ensuring they submit daily activity and JSA reports and that work adheres to Sungrow standards.
  • Prepare and submit personal Daily Activity Reports and Daily JSA Reports.
  • Work independently and with Design Engineers to resolve high-level technical issues and support root cause analysis for complex projects.
  • Coordinate with other engineering, logistic, financial, and program management disciplines to maintain solar plant operations.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Complete documentation in a timely and organized fashion.
  • Follow level-appropriate standard operating procedures.
  • Own the creation and submission of all field paperwork and documentation for compliance with site documentation and project requirements.
  • Serve as a safety second if needed.
