About The Position

Emerald Site Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated, and reliable Field Service Technician (Mobile Diesel Mechanic) to join our field operations team. Unlike a traditional shop-based role, this position requires traveling directly to company jobsites, fleet locations, or field equipment to diagnose, service, and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues. As the face of our field operations, you will operate with a high degree of independence, bringing specialized technical expertise in heavy commercial vehicles, diesel engines, hydraulics, trailers, field tractors, and heavy-duty air brake systems. You will play a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring our assets remain safe, compliant, and operationally excellent.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair experience (field or mobile experience is a major plus).
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Advanced proficiency with diagnostic scanners, electrical testing equipment, and welding/cutting tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs, work in tight spaces, and perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
  • Exceptional time management, computer and email fluency, strong problem-solving abilities, and the independence to work efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Must possess a comprehensive personal set of mechanics' hand tools (specialty tools and service vehicle provided by the company).

Nice To Haves

  • A Commercial Driver’s License - CDL Class A or B is highly preferred.
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications or equivalent manufacturer training are strongly preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to various jobsite locations to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and braking systems on vehicles or machinery.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including oil changes, fluid flushes, tune-ups, brake replacements, and safety inspections on-site.
  • Respond promptly to service calls, troubleshooting breakdowns efficiently to minimize downtime for clients or company fleet operations.
  • Maintain a well-organized, fully stocked service truck. Track inventory, tools, and order parts necessary for specific field assignments.
  • Complete accurate digital work orders, service logs, and timesheets, detailing the work performed, parts used, and future maintenance recommendations.
  • Explain technical issues clearly to clients or fleet managers, provide accurate repair estimates, and deliver a professional, trustworthy service experience.
  • Adhere strictly to OSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT), and environmental safety regulations regarding hazardous materials and roadside work zones.
