We are seeking experienced, independent, and reliable Field Service Technicians to support the installation, commissioning, testing, repair, and maintenance of Microgrid Switchgear and Control Systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to work independently in the field, and a commitment to safety and quality. Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial/industrial experience working with diesel and/or natural gas generators, paralleling switchgear, and controllers
  • Ability to travel 50–70% overnight, Monday through Friday (minimal weekend travel)
  • Conduct all business and social activities with professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards
  • Ability to pass a physical examination, background check, and drug screening
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook email and calendars

  • OEM training, manufacturer certifications, and/or EGSA certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, field start-ups, commissioning, system modifications, preventative maintenance, operator training, and document all site visits related to Microgrid Switchgear and Control Systems
  • Conduct wiring checks to verify control power distribution and component operation using appropriate test equipment (0–125V DC and 0–15kV AC)
  • Utilize PLC, HMI, and component software for system setup, operation, troubleshooting, and programming modifications
  • Verify proper operation of system components, including PLCs, HMIs, metering, protective relays, circuit breakers, and related equipment per contract documents
  • Verify correct operation of communication circuits, including Ethernet (TCP/IP), RS‑232/485, Modbus, Modbus+, fiber, BACnet, and customer SCADA systems
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to verify operation of generators, BESS, solar, ATSs, remote annunciators, and connected devices
  • Manage onsite third‑party vendors to ensure efficient and successful startups or upgrades
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including customer signoffs, trip reports, drawings, sequences of operation, component serial numbers, system setpoints, and software/firmware versions
  • Understand functionality of all components within and connected to switchgear systems, including generators, alternators, voltage regulators, controllers, ATSs, BESS, and solar systems
  • Make generator speed and voltage adjustments for proper synchronization, loading/unloading, and kW/kVAR sharing
  • Submit customer feedback to the Quality Department to track product or system issues
  • Provide feedback on switchgear design, PLC/HMI programming, circuit design, and sequences of operation
  • Review scope of work, submittts, schematics, wiring diagrams, sequences, and manuals prior to site visits
  • Manage costs related to onsite work, including travel and expenses
  • Mentor incoming associates and provide technical feedback to peers
  • Assist with updates to product and departmental procedures
  • Understand and adhere to applicable industry codes (e.g., NFPA 110)
  • Perform daily activities with minimal supervision
  • Provide on‑call emergency support as required
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures at all times
