About The Position

The Field Service Technician II provides advanced technical maintenance, repair, and support services on equipment. This role requires expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, along with the ability to guide and support junior technicians. The technician will also collaborate closely with engineering teams to implement solutions and improve product performance. You'll be responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying our products and updating and tracking the status of all field related equipment. You'll build and maintain effective relationships with our customers and provide them with onsite training. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience as a technician or in a related field. Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Experience using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Understanding of electrical wiring concepts.
  • Ability to frequently travel outside the continental US, typically for extended periods of time.
  • Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 90/90 rotation
  • Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.

  • Ability to obtain a current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.
  • A United States Government Security Clearance is required for employment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

  • Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to work in a combination of office and field environments.
  • Ability to read detailed technical manuals, schematics, and computer screens.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
  • Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments, such as industrial sites or construction areas.
  • Ability to detect auditory signals from machinery or equipment, which may indicate issues.
  • Ability to navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel to customer locations.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a related field of study.
  • Experience with FCC or FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
  • Prior experience with Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or A+.
  • Basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope, and/or Pitot Static equipment gauges.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
  • Experience with software and firmware updates for technical equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced maintenance and repair tasks on aerospace and defense systems.
  • Lead the installation and commissioning of equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and collaborate with engineering teams for resolution.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior field service technicians.
  • Deliver detailed training sessions to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
  • Ensure all fieldwork complies with safety standards and regulations.
  • Manage and track inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Produce detailed technical reports for internal and customer review.
  • Travel to customer sites as necessary, including potential international locations.
