About The Position

The Field Service Technician – Firestop installs approved firestop and smoke-stop systems designed to restore the rating to fire/smoke assemblies to compliant construction. These systems are a component of the life safety industry and require following detailed instructions for adequate installation. Work is conducted primarily in hospital and commercial settings in various indoor and outdoor climates, often above ceiling grids and in dusty environments. This position is primarily responsible for assessing rated barriers and ensuring quality firestop application in hospitals and commercial buildings.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of firestop inspection, repair, and installation
  • Commercial drywall repair and installation
  • Fire caulking experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of iOS products and electronic reporting.
  • Experience with life safety plans and NFPA.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver license.
  • Must pass drug screen, criminal background check and driver’s license check.
  • Ability to travel

Nice To Haves

  • Hilti and STI certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and repair fire/smoke barriers per NFPA/IBC/UL requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and life safety drawings.
  • Document inspection and repair results in an electronic reporting system using a tablet.
  • Provide accurate and detailed documentation for customers’ code compliance.
  • Document repairs that cannot be completed, obtain and record specifications for materials to be ordered.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing components.
  • Install access doors in rated assemblies.
  • Hang and repair drywall.
  • Installation and repair of wall assemblies (Metal Framing & Repair of Gypsum and Masonry Construction).
  • Load and unload project materials and equipment.
  • Complete prep work for all applications.
  • Use common hand tools such as hammers, knives, chisels, pliers, screwdrivers, saws, drills, etc.
  • Properly maintain equipment and tools.
  • Follow safety and Infection control guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure a clean job site.
  • Maintain professional, timely communication with customers and staff.
  • Clear and effective communication written and verbal.
  • Effective Customer Service Skills.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Attend any required training activities.
  • Support other service lines.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
