About The Position

This is a Field Service Engineer role focused on CNC and automation systems within the steel fabrication industry. The position involves traveling across the U.S. to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment such as CNC machines and lasers. The role requires the individual to be a technical expert, diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and control issues. It is a fast-paced environment with changing schedules, requiring independence and the ability to work in industrial shop settings. Senior engineers will handle complex troubleshooting and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

3–5+ years (Level II) or 8+ years (Senior) of field service or industrial equipment experience
Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
Experience with CNC machines, PLCs (Allen Bradley is a plus), and automation systems
Ability to read schematics and work independently in the field
Willingness to travel frequently across the U.S.
Valid driver’s license
Able to lift 40 lbs and work safely around industrial equipment
Authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Experience with welding equipment or processes
Experience with laser cutting systems
Experience with robotics or automated manufacturing systems

Responsibilities

Install and start up CNC machines, lasers, and automation systems at customer sites
Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and control issues
Work with PLCs, servo systems, I/O, and industrial networking
Read schematics and troubleshoot down to root cause
Get machines back up and running as quickly as possible
Train operators and maintenance teams when needed
Document your work and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams
Handle the toughest troubleshooting jobs (for senior engineers)
Help train and support other engineers (for senior engineers)
Be the escalation point when things get complicated (for senior engineers)
