About The Position

We are looking for a Controls Embedded Resource to take ownership of controls-related machine performance at a key customer manufacturing site in Donegal, Ireland. This is a customer-embedded role with direct accountability for equipment reliability, production recovery, system stability, and KPI performance. The successful candidate will act as the on-site ATS technical owner, driving issue resolution, monitoring performance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives while serving as the primary interface between the customer and ATS. This role is not a support function—it is an ownership role. The Embedded Resource is expected to deliver measurable improvements in uptime, fault recovery, and operational effectiveness through data-driven decision making, structured reporting, and hands-on technical leadership. The Controls Embedded Resource will act as the on-site ATS owner for controls-related equipment performance, responsible for driving reliability, production recovery, and sustained system stability in a live manufacturing environment. This role is accountable for achieving measurable improvements in key performance indicators including uptime, downtime reduction, fault recovery time, and OEE. The Embedded Resource will actively monitor system performance, analyze fault trends, and implement corrective actions to improve machine performance over time. The position requires disciplined, structured reporting and will lead regular KPI reviews with ATS and customer stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Diploma/degree in Controls, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years in automation/controls environments
  • Strong Rockwell PLC experience (required)
  • Experience with additional PLC platforms is an asset
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting capability at the machine level
  • Comfortable working directly on automated systems to diagnose and recover issues
  • Experience with motion control, HMI diagnostics, and industrial networks
  • Experience in commissioning, SAT, or post-SAT environments
  • Ability to read and interpret controls documentation
  • Strong independent problem-solving in live production environments
  • PLC programming and diagnostics

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive controls-related equipment performance, uptime, and recovery
  • Act as primary on-site ATS controls point of contact
  • Monitor and report on KPIs (OEE, downtime, fault trends)
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Coordinate with ATS Engineering, Service, and internal teams
  • Support upgrades, retrofits, and post-SAT stabilization
  • Provide on-site coaching and knowledge transfer
  • Identify risks, issues, and future opportunities (“eyes and ears”)
  • Maintain structured reporting and documentation
  • Represent ATS professionally on site
