About The Position

This role supports field service operations within Sungrow USA, focusing on the commissioning, warranty, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of installed sites in the region. Reporting to the regional field service supervisor, this position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and providing commissioning support for PV inverters and ancillary equipment/systems, typically at customer sites or staging yards. The role emphasizes adherence to the "ZERO HARM" safety mandate to ensure safe and efficient work, prioritizing personnel and safety issues, and implementing safety management policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving abilities.
  • A 'completer-finisher' taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts.
  • 3+ years of overall experience in a technical field.
  • 2 years of experience in solar inverters or BESS.
  • Ability to work with test equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOPs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA70A, and Electrical Safety.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline from an accredited university or college.

  • Power Electronics experience.
  • OSHA 10 certificate within 12 months of date of hire.
  • NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire.
  • Experience and/or certification with MV transformers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical assignments involving installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of solar inverters, BESS Systems, PCS, batteries, and ancillary equipment.
  • Conduct general troubleshooting and diagnosis according to Sungrow's maintenance and repair guidelines.
  • Support and perform pre-commissioning (with and without grid emulator) and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems within schedule.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance and other Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) activities for O&M roles.
  • Investigate solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients. For BESS positions, this includes SOC checks, module/component troubleshooting, electrical/electronic part replacement, and SW version updates.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and project teams on potential mechanical and electrical design improvements.
  • Lead field upgrade/rework projects (software and hardware) and communicate technical scope to customers, managing schedules and commitments.
  • Collaborate with customer SCADA engineers to set up system communication and parameters for Sungrow's controllers and F&G systems.
  • Accurately describe observed troubleshooting sequences and procedures.
  • Identify and document basic mechanical and electrical issues and problems.
  • Perform basic corrective maintenance.
  • Create/modify Field Service procedures for safety, troubleshooting, and maintenance as needed.
  • Act as Lead when using contractors, ensuring they submit daily activity and JSA reports and adhere to Sungrow standards.
  • Prepare and submit personal Daily Activity Reports and Daily JSA Reports.
  • Work independently and with Design Engineers to resolve high-level technical issues and investigate root causes for complex projects.
  • Coordinate with other engineering, logistic, financial, and program management disciplines to maintain solar plant operations.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Complete documentation in a timely and organized fashion.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Own the creation and submission of all field paperwork and documentation for compliance.
  • Serve as a safety second if needed.
