About The Position

The Senior Field Service Technician – Generators is a highly skilled field professional responsible for advanced installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial generator systems. This role requires independent problem-solving, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to mentor and guide junior technicians. The senior technician ensures equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in generator service, controls, or related electrical/mechanical field, including prior mentoring or leadership experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites.
  • Relevant certifications, such as OSHA, NFPA, ASE, or manufacturer-specific training, preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of generator systems, electrical controls, and mechanical components.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools, meters, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, OSHA/NFPA standards, and industry best practices.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various environments, including outdoor, industrial, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and repair of complex generator systems and related control equipment.
  • Diagnose advanced electrical, mechanical, and operational issues, performing root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Conduct load bank testing, system inspections, and performance verification to ensure optimal generator operation.
  • Serve as a technical resource for junior technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and training.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute multiple service calls or projects independently, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Collaborate with customers, project managers, and engineering teams to resolve complex service needs and provide expert technical support.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide technical leadership during emergency service situations.
  • Identify opportunities for process, equipment, or procedural improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency.
