About The Position

Teledyne FLIR Integrated Solutions is seeking professional Field Service/Support Technicians (FSSTs) to support growth in the advanced detection and surveillance systems market. This role involves traveling to client locations across the United States to install new equipment, respond to service requests, troubleshoot equipment issues, and provide training. While the home office is in Tucson, Arizona, a significant portion of the work will be at customer sites, with up to 20% travel expected. This position offers a dynamic alternative to a traditional shop environment, providing variety through field-based work, customer interaction, and exposure to advanced systems. The work is estimated to be 100% Customer Relations, with a breakdown of 40% electrical, 40% mechanical, 15% software, and 5% hardware.

Requirements

  • Travel, at times, with little advance notice.
  • Possess some knowledge of software, hardware, common ports, connectors, and cabling.
  • Ability to understand usage of diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Ability to trace and locate cable and wiring faults with a volt-ohm meter (troubleshoot).
  • Be responsive to customer calls and provide telephonic troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate closely with technical team to resolve technical issues (work within small team dynamic).
  • Complete service reports detailing field visits utilizing Microsoft Word.
  • Perform duties responsibly with minimal direct supervision.
  • Operate company vehicles, customer vehicles and rental cars (valid driver license required).
  • Obtain a passport (potential for occasional international travel).
  • Lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Stand up to 8 hours a day.
  • Climb onto/into elevated platforms.
  • Communicate in the English language.
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish and or Arabic is beneficial.
  • Previous experience as an Automotive, Aviation Mechanic, and or Technician, Diesel Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Field Service Technician, or similar hands on mechanical/electrical role is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the inspection, evaluation, diagnosis, maintenance, repair and/or upgrade of complex electro mechanical systems to include the installation of company product(s).
  • Provide technical onsite and telephonic support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of complex electro mechanical systems, including mechanical assemblies, electrical wiring, sensors, and control components.
  • Communicate with customers to determine the nature of the service and/or repair.
  • Perform system and sub-system testing to proactively identify issues that may potentially affect deployment of the system.
  • Provide engineers with information necessary in developing solutions to identified issues.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools (multimeters, hand tools, test equipment).
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Install, repair, and replace mechanical and electrical components, cabling, sensors, and modules.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, functional testing, and system validation after repairs.
  • Troubleshoot systems in the field much like vehicle, aircraft equipment diagnostics.
