General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an opening for a Field Support Representative (FSR) to support the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in Northwestern California. The selected candidate may also be required to provide temporary coverage at other FSR locations across the West Coast Region and nationwide. The primary Area of Responsibility (AOR) includes sites in Sector Humboldt Bay and Sector San Francisco. The candidate will be required to drive a company-supplied vehicle to cover a minimum of nine Rescue 21 sites in Northwestern California: one Coast Guard Sector (SCC), three Coast Guard Stations (STA), and five Remote Fixed Facilities (RFFs). The selected candidate will be located in Northwestern California, with specific location to be discussed during the hiring process. The FSR will work out of their home and will be provided a GDMS-supplied vehicle, tools, and supplies necessary to maintain the Rescue 21 sites, including a regional depot spares location. The primary responsibility of this role is the equipment and system support of the Rescue 21 communication and direction-finding system at remote sites in USCG Sectors Humboldt Bay and San Francisco. The FSR will provide emergency repair response coverage and total system preventive maintenance coverage, which will require driving and, at times, flying for site access. The successful candidate will have detailed knowledge of system tactical employment and optimization and the ability to document failures and corrective actions in accordance with proper procedures and methods. This role operates independently in most situations and requires the preparation and submission of periodic status reports and inventories as required by operational procedures. Field activities will include installing, maintaining, integrating, troubleshooting, testing, and servicing fielded systems and products at customer sites. The FSR will diagnose and repair mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures using established procedures and submit reports on system reliability metrics to technical and regional support centers. Additionally, the FSR will set up and utilize specialized test and diagnostic equipment to isolate malfunctions. The FSR works closely with design engineering in evaluating product performance and conducting field trials and will conduct start-up, cutover, and checkout activities on newly installed systems. Site and equipment inspections will be completed to perform preventative and corrective maintenance. This position will work with more senior FSRs to plan and implement system configurations to meet specific mission requirements, conduct technical seminars and training for customers, provide on-the-job training for field service staff members and customers, and deliver over-the-shoulder and refresher training to users in the field as required.
