About The Position

Schneider Electric is seeking Field Service Representatives to perform assembly, startup, diagnostic, repair, and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment in various environments. This role involves problem-solving, customer interaction, and continuous learning. The company provides direct product and tool training, along with service vehicles, tools, uniforms, mobile devices, and laptops. This is a site-based position with occasional nonstandard hours, guaranteeing 40 hours per week with overtime potential, primarily working at customer sites. The role focuses on servicing equipment for power distribution and critical power infrastructure within the U.S. Services business.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, trade/vocational certification, Military training or similar experience in electrical-related disciplines.
  • Ability to read blueprints/schematics.
  • Thorough understanding of principles of AC and DC power, various AC and DC supply circuit components.
  • 2+ years of field service repair and customer service with UPS (Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, power distribution and switchgear, seamless automatic transfer switches (ATS), power distribution units, electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics related equipment.
  • 2+ years in Field Services or equivalent industry experience.
  • Must possess good safety practices and adhere to the company’s safety procedures/policies (lock out tag out, comply with all safety programs and complete safety related trainings on time).
  • Identify hazards present in the work area and report all safety matters, incidents, near misses, to management or safety representative.
  • Safe driving and vehicle operations skills.
  • Skilled at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and operation manuals.
  • Ability to write service reports, correspondence, procedures, effectively present information and respond to customer questions.
  • Work frequently requires strenuous physical tasks, including bending, stooping and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Work outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, and dust.
  • Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time, including working in small confined spaces.
  • English proficiency required to communicate with customers and team members.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills and systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel; and the ability to navigate and utilize company digital tools and resources.

  • NFPA-70E or OSHA experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-site, startup, repair, preventive maintenance, and field modification of equipment.
  • Collaborate with customers, electricians, sales partners, technical support, and District Service teams to solve problems.
  • Complete field service reports, expense reports, preventive maintenance, and startup data sheets.
  • Work with management to resolve complex escalated issues.
  • Engage in continuous learning and training on various products, both in the field and in the classroom.
  • Travel throughout the region for local customer support or countrywide travel, including overnight travel by vehicle/air.
  • Assist senior technicians and support Project Management on larger system start-ups.
  • Work alongside larger teams of FSRs and collaborate with Project Managers on higher complexity projects.
  • Act on behalf of the District Service Manager to resolve operational issues as required.
