This role involves documenting essential information on work orders, including pump and motor details, failure causes, required parts, and problem descriptions. The technician will interpret technical documents like exploded views, O&M manuals, and parts lists. Key responsibilities include disassembling, evaluating, and repairing rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, and gearboxes. This includes troubleshooting, diagnosing, and determining the cause of failure and the condition of parts. The technician will record all necessary data for service and design results, including sizing and illustrations. Cleaning parts using methods like parts washers and bead blasters, and repairing or replacing defective components such as mechanical seals, bearings, shafts, wear rings, O-rings, gaskets, and impellers are also crucial. The role requires accurate use of measuring devices for proper sizing and safe operation of shop equipment including band saws, drill presses, hydraulic presses, power tools, surface grinders, jib cranes, and bridge cranes. Operating specialized repair and testing equipment is also part of the job. Adherence to all safety policies and procedures is mandatory. The technician will also assist other mechanics and departments as directed by the service center lead or manager.
