About The Position

Morris Group, Inc., a third-generation, family-owned business and one of North America's largest machine tool distributors, is seeking a CNC Field Service Technician. HFO/Trident Southeast, the exclusive distributor for Haas CNC machine tools, aims to help manufacturers improve productivity and maintain a competitive edge. The company offers a comprehensive range of Haas CNC products, known for their accuracy, repeatability, and durability. The CNC Field Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues with electrical and mechanical components by utilizing an extensive understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics. This role involves traveling to customer sites to perform installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on machine tool equipment and controls. The technician will use technical documentation and vendor resources to research machine issues, ensure accurate documentation of repairs and installations, and promote preventative maintenance. A strong knowledge of the machine tool industry and the company's product lines is essential. Related duties as required will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Experience in mechanical/electrical repair of diesel engines, generators, automotive, industrial machinery, HVAC, EDM/Laser/Waterjet/CNC machine tools; Haas CNC Repair background a plus.
  • Proficient in Spanish.
  • Intermediate to sophisticated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent customer service, technical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
  • Flexible hours and frequent travel, including driving throughout a regional territory.
  • Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 100 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees.
  • Highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises.
  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while prioritizing multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged period of times.
  • Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all machine tool equipment and controls for customer organizations.
  • Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, internal and vendor resources to research machine issues.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer in regard to status of machine issues, repairs, and installation.
  • Promoting and performing preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment and conducting after-sales technical support and training.
  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company.
  • Perform related duties as required.
