About The Position

Cal-Line Equipment is looking to hire an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician Mechanic to join our growing team. We specialize in vegetation management equipment, catering to the arborist industry and are the largest dealer in the world for Bandit Industries’ market leading product line of woodchippers, stump grinders and whole-tree chippers. We have six locations across the Western U.S. including locations in California, Oregon, and Washington. In addition, we are a leader in promoting education within our industry, conducting seminars ranging from safety, operations and maintenance and bugs and disease. Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with construction or heavy diesel equipment, specifically focusing on electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot machine breakdowns using computer diagnostic software.
  • Ability to generate clear parts requisitions and detailed service work orders.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license (clean record).
  • Must have a complete personal toolset.
  • Ability to pass background and drug screenings.
  • Strong commitment to punctuality and consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in welding and fabrication is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform factory-recommended preventative maintenance and conduct thorough safety inspections to identify wear or damage.
  • Provide expert-level electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnosis repair across a diverse fleet.
  • Utilize schematics and diagnostic software to service equipment from CAT, John Deere, Cummins, Kohler, PSI, Perkins, Vanguard, Honda, and others.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
  • Generate clear parts requisitions and detailed service work orders.
  • Communicate effectively with both internal teams and external customers.
  • Work on commercial woodchippers, stump grinders, mini skids steers, and large horizontal grinders.
  • Travel may be required for repairs onsite at customer locations.
