This role involves performing expert-level break-fix and preventative maintenance on devices, observing them in operation to identify root causes of problems, dismantling devices to access and remove defective parts, examining parts for imperfections, adjusting functional parts, repairing or replacing defective parts, testing devices for performance, and performing tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems. The technician will also recondition and repair machine tools, identify and source necessary parts and supplies, evaluate alternatives to improve cost and/or reliability of equipment, and independently perform maintenance according to industry standards. Collaboration with customer counterparts to optimize maintenance, reliability, and preventative maintenance procedures is expected. The role may involve setting up and operating machining operations (lathe, drill press, grinder, etc.) and performing welding tasks. The technician must conform to customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping standards, and safety processes, and document work performed in service reports and management systems, providing written explanations of observations and equipment performance data. They will assist lower-level technicians and leadership, train others, troubleshoot complex control systems, and utilize advanced maintenance technologies to collect and analyze equipment performance data, making recommendations based on trends. The role also includes completing on-the-job training and technical self-study programs, and strictly following all safety-related policies and guidelines, including identifying unsafe behaviors and conditions.
