About The Position

The Field Service Lead – Controls provides advanced technical expertise while overseeing field service activities related to building automation and control systems. This role serves as a technical lead and mentor for field technicians, supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance efforts while ensuring high-quality service delivery and strong customer relationships. The Lead works closely with customers, project teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in alignment with project and service expectations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with BAS/BMS control systems such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, or similar platforms.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
  • Strong understanding of control sequences, system integration, and networking concepts.
  • Proficiency with low-voltage wiring, diagnostics, and control system troubleshooting.
  • Strong customer communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 85 percent.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (OSHA, NFPA, ASE, or manufacturer-specific training) preferred.
  • Prior experience in a senior, lead, or mentoring role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of BAS/BMS control systems across multiple customer sites.
  • Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex control system issues.
  • Guide, mentor, and support field service technicians, providing on-the-job training and technical direction.
  • Assist with planning, assigning, and prioritizing daily service activities and project work.
  • Install, configure, and optimize BAS/BMS systems, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and networks.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, system calibration, tuning, and performance optimization.
  • Read, interpret, and validate wiring diagrams, control schematics, and sequences of operation.
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding system performance, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of service activities, changes, and recommendations.
  • Promote compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and enhanced service quality.
