The Field Service Engineering Specialist will be a key technical resource within the Field Service Engineering team, contributing to field operations, customer support, and cross-functional projects. This role involves investigating complex technical issues, conducting root cause analysis, developing field procedures and documentation, delivering technical training, and assisting customers and internal teams with advanced metering and communication challenges. The ideal candidate will possess strong engineering fundamentals, practical problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. This position collaborates closely with Field Service, Project Management, Customer Support, Product Development, and Operations teams to enhance products, processes, and customer experience. Additionally, the role will evaluate new technologies, contribute to design standards, develop technical documentation, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in multi-family and commercial buildings.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience reviewing and creating technical drawings and documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Auto CAD.
  • Strong organization and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with technical data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, training, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration, primarily within New York City and periodically to Metergy's Philadelphia office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource for Field Service, Project Management, Customer Support, and other internal teams, providing expertise on metering systems, communication technologies, and field operations.
  • Investigate complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve product, process, and operational challenges.
  • Provide technical training for field technicians and other internal stakeholders to support new products, technologies, and operational processes.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation to support field operations, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
  • Manage and prioritize technical support requests through Metergy's ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate new products, technologies, and third-party products and solutions to support continuous improvement and business objectives.
  • Analyze electrical and mechanical drawings to provide guidance and support on sub-metering system design principles for electricity, water, gas and thermal services in residential, commercial and mixed-use properties.
  • Develop and maintain technical drawings, schematics, and installation documentation using AutoCAD to support new construction, retrofit, and operational initiatives.
  • Analyze metering and utility data to identify trends, investigate anomalies, and support troubleshooting and operational decision-making.
  • Provide technical expertise on communication and AMR (Automated Meter Reading) equipment to improve business operations and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Identify and deliver on continuous improvement opportunities.
