About The Position

The Field Service Engineer at Praetorian Power Protection is responsible for troubleshooting, electrical testing, commissioning, and maintaining electrical power systems and related equipment. The position requires the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team across a variety of facilities, including data centers, commercial buildings, government facilities, and industrial sites. This role is based in Boise, ID, with travel throughout the United States as required and potential opportunities for international assignments.

Requirements

  • Industrial Safety Processes and LOTO
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and three-line drawings.
  • Work safely in Low, Medium and High voltage applications.
  • Experienced using various test equipment such as megger, hi-pot, WRM, TTR, power factor test set, high current breaker test sets, etc.
  • Proficient in LOTO and Job Hazard Analysis practices.
  • Record and interpret test data (components, power quality, engineering studies, etc.).
  • Background check
  • Ability to work in construction environments indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions.
  • Climb and on ladders and scaffolding and work on man-lifts occasionally.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of electrical testing experience is preferred.
  • NETA Level II or III certification
  • NICET II- NICET III certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical power distribution equipment, including low-, medium-, and high-voltage circuit breakers; cables; switchboards; switchgear; switches; metering and control systems; protective relays; uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems; battery systems; and other related electrical equipment.
  • Perform start-up services on switchgear and electrical systems up through the 500-kV class.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting systems and components up to 500-kV.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex power system studies including short circuit, arc flash, protective device coordination, reliability, harmonics and load flow analysis.
  • Complete test data recording accurately and reliably.
  • Maintain strong client relationships.
