About The Position

We’re a well-funded start-up focused on tackling major challenges in biology by developing next-generation technologies. We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a significant part in ensuring customer success by providing excellent service and support for our proprietary instruments and platforms. You will be responsible for instrument service implementation, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair at customer sites. Collaborating with Field Application Scientists, you will offer technical support to guarantee optimal instrument usage and customer satisfaction. Additionally, you will support new product introductions to ensure smooth deployment of new and improved products in the field. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or other advanced university degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of field service experience, ideally in complex life science tools/instruments space.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, can-do attitude, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn about what customers need, what they are trying to achieve, and how they make decisions to drive customer delight.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, high-growth environment.
  • Valid passport (90+ day validity) and driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs for approximately 15% of typical working day.
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
  • Ability to comply with personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of working time away from work location, including overnight/weekend travel at times.

Nice To Haves

  • Early-stage company experience.
  • Experience with Salesforce and MasterControl or similar CRM and document control system.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation and laboratory equipment; experience as an end-user of related instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of cellular biology.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer/collaborator sites to provide timely technical support including troubleshooting, design evaluation, and problem-solving/repair.
  • Conduct customer site inspection for instrument receipt, installation, and relocations.
  • Ensure compliance with instrument specifications and warranty commitments.
  • Maintain and document work performed in service reports.
  • Provide requirements and feedback for improved product reliability, serviceability, and design.
  • Perform verification testing and preventative maintenance for the external instrument fleet.
  • As time allows, help maintain and service our internal instrument fleet; provide feedback to Research and Product Development teams.
