About The Position

This job involves extensive travel, requiring the employee to be on the road and stay in hotels four nights a week after completing an initial 2-4 week training period at our facility in Holland, Michigan. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for performing field installations and start-ups, preventative maintenance, and conducting performance tests to ensure product compliance with specifications. This role also includes training customers on product operation and maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing refrigeration, electronics, and electro-mechanical components, and maintaining positive customer relationships. Responsibilities include coordinating service calls, promoting retrofits and maintenance contracts, and performing general service work. The engineer must maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures, vehicle logs, and submit detailed field service and travel expense reports.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of refrigeration experience.
  • Solid understanding of single-stage refrigeration.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience or training in commercial / industrial refrigeration or HVAC/R.
  • Experience with electronics and controls programming.
  • Work experience in a related service capacity.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of cascade refrigeration.
  • Experience or training in cascade refrigeration systems.
  • EPA Universal Certificate.
  • Work experience in the environmental simulation systems industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field installations and start-ups.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance.
  • Inspect and conduct performance tests to verify product compliance with manufacturing prints and specifications.
  • Document installed product performance.
  • Conduct training and instruct product users on proper operation and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate refrigeration, electronics, and electro-mechanical components using prints and schematics.
  • Establish, maintain, and develop positive relationships with customers.
  • Contact customers to coordinate service calls, generate work, explain benefits of retrofits, establish preventive maintenance contracts, and perform general service work.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of warranty, maintenance, and service policies and procedures.
  • Maintain vehicle logs and maintenance schedules.
  • Keep detailed field service and travel expense reports.
