About The Position

This job involves on-the-road travel and staying in hotels four nights a week after completing a 2-4 week training program at our facility in Holland, Michigan. The Field Service Engineer will perform field installations and start-ups, preventative maintenance, and inspect/conduct performance tests to ensure product compliance with specifications. Responsibilities include documenting installed product performance, training users on proper operation and maintenance, and troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating refrigeration, electronics, and electro-mechanical components. The role also requires establishing and maintaining positive customer relationships, coordinating service calls, explaining product benefits, and securing preventive maintenance contracts. Maintaining knowledge of warranty, maintenance, and service policies, as well as vehicle logs and expense reports, is also crucial. The physical manufacturing location is in Holland, Michigan. Travel is expected weekly to customer facilities, with 100% of travel time paid at the hourly wage. A $350 weekly per diem for personal expenses is provided, with no receipts required. All travel costs are paid by the company, and a work vehicle is provided.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 2 years refrigeration experience AND a solid understanding of single stage refrigeration.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience or training in commercial / industrial refrigeration or HVAC/R.
  • Experience with electronics and controls programming.
  • Work experience in a related service capacity.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of cascade refrigeration a plus.
  • Experience or training in cascade refrigeration systems.
  • EPA Universal Certificate.
  • Work experience in the environmental simulation systems industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field installations and start-ups.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance.
  • Inspect and conduct performance tests to verify product compliance with manufacturing prints and application engineering/purchase specifications and requirements.
  • Document installed product performance.
  • Conduct training and instruct product users in proper operation and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate various operating systems of refrigeration, electronics, and electro-mechanical components utilizing prints and schematics to bring/return products to fully operational condition.
  • Establish, maintain, and develop positive relationships with customers.
  • Contact customers to coordinate service calls at their facility.
  • Generate work, explain the benefits of refrigeration and controller retrofits, and establish preventive maintenance contracts.
  • Perform general service work.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Russells Technical Products' warranty, maintenance, and service policies and procedures.
  • Maintain vehicle logs, maintenance schedules, and keep detailed field service and travel expense reports.
