About The Position

ASRC Federal Facilities Logistics, a subsidiary of ARS Federal, is seeking a Facility Services Engineer at Vandenberg SFB, CA. This role supports the Spaceport Systems team by operating and maintaining the Integrated Processing Facility (IPF) for processing space hardware in preparation for launch. The engineer will perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations for critical IPF systems, including facility control systems, power generation, fire detection, UPS, HVAC, and other electrical and mechanical systems. The position involves performing operations, maintenance (preventative and emergency) repairs, and maintenance engineering for critical facilities systems used during spacecraft processing. The engineer will troubleshoot equipment using mechanical drawings and electronic schematics, perform detailed and accurate record keeping, and complete documentation including logbooks, work orders, and purchase requisitions. They will also set up and operate test equipment to evaluate system performance, collect and analyze technical data, and collaborate with other departments to meet customer requirements. Customer interface for technical issues during payload processing, material handling (including forklift operation), and critical spare part control are also key responsibilities. The role may require participation in an on-call rotation and working extended hours when needed. Recommendations for operational improvements for facility systems are expected, along with adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field and 3+ years of experience in complex mechanical maintenance and repair, or H.S. diploma and 5+ years of experience in complex mechanical maintenance and repair
  • Read, understand, and work from Standard Operating Procedures, electrical drawings, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Experience working around space vehicle flight hardware, and clean room operations and protocols
  • Ability to work independently within a cross-functional team
  • Able to supervise contractors and vendors performing work in the facility as needed
  • Capable of walking and moving around job site
  • Active TS/SCI clearance (or ability to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Perform operations, maintenance (preventative and emergency) repairs, and maintenance engineering that encompasses the critical facilities systems utilized during spacecraft processing
  • Troubleshoot equipment utilizing mechanical drawings and electronic schematics
  • Perform detailed and accurate record keeping, complete documentation including, logbooks, work orders, and purchase requisitions
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of critical facility systems under simulated operating conditions, record result and provide data/quality records at project reviews.
  • Collect and provide analysis of technical data
  • Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements
  • Provide customer interface for technical issues during payload processing
  • Handle materials, including operating a fork truck, and participate in critical spare part control
  • Occasionally participate in on-call rotation and work extended hours when required
  • Make recommendations for operational improvement for facility systems
