About The Position

Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer I (FSE I) to join our world‑class team supporting advanced defense technologies deployed across global mission environments. In this remote role, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across the full KONGSBERG Defense portfolio—providing essential technical guidance, hands‑on troubleshooting, and expert support that ensures our customers can operate, maintain, and deploy KONGSBERG systems with confidence. As a key technical resource throughout the entire program lifecycle, you will play a critical role in system readiness, customer training, and field deployment activities. This position is ideal for individuals who excel in dynamic environments, possess strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and are driven to support mission‑focused technology that protects people and critical infrastructure worldwide.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of prior operational, training, technical support for weapon systems and vehicle platforms.
  • Field support service experience and / or formal training in a related field.
  • Experience as a system technician conducting troubleshooting / basic fault finding.
  • Proficient in the use of basic computer skills – Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Possess a high level of analytical skills: identifying problems and solving them
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, managerial and teamwork skills.
  • Able to work autonomously without direct supervision.
  • Must be a U.S. Person within the meaning of United States International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) governing export control. A U.S. Person is a United States Citizen or National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Lawful Temporary Resident, Refugee or Asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in management, computers, electronics or a related mechanical discipline is preferred / considered.
  • Experience in a mechanical and/or electrical discipline is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of routine equipment preventive maintenance procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Field Support Representative (FSR) for the entire KONGSBERG Defense portfolio.
  • The Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the functional, operational, and employment aspects of the KDA family of remote weapons, turrets, and missile systems, providing technical expertise and guidance across all related activities.
  • Provide, as required, general support of day-to-day operations of the field services.
  • Provide training both internal and to external DoD personnel and or as directed.
  • As required, operate, maintain and demonstrate all platform assets for customer demonstrations and qualification.
  • Support, as required, trade shows and live fire demonstrations as a Field Support Representative (FSR) for the entire KONGSBERG portfolio.
  • Provide, as required, general system demonstration and marketing support as well as all equipment and weapons accountability.
  • Able to maintain and support weapons, transport and the ability to conduct live fire and demonstrations.
  • Able to obtain and maintain up to a Secret Security Clearance, if needed.
  • Support, as available, with testing or production activities in Johnstown.
