We're growing, and seeking a Field Service Technician based out of North Alabama or West Tennessee areas to join our field service team. As a field technician, you can expect to work in a variety of environments, primarily focused on emergency response facilities and locations where emergency response vehicles are stationed. Our technicians work on the repair of aerial lifts and telescopic ladder systems, high output pumps and flow systems, electrical and hydraulic systems, structural weldments, drivetrain and suspension systems, annual service and inspections, welding and fabrication, and more!

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferably, minimum of 3 years relevant experience in heavy truck or emergency vehicle repair.
  • Commercial driver's license preferred.
  • Cummins, ASE, or welding certifications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and components, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and braking systems.
  • Knowledge of fire apparatus systems, including pumps, hoses, valves, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting work performed and parts used.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday with opportunity for overtime.
  • 90% travel with some overnight stays as required.
  • All positions are subject to background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fire apparatus and related equipment.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Repair or replace defective components, such as pumps, hoses, valves, and electrical systems.
  • Install and upgrade equipment, including radios, sirens, and lighting systems.
  • Test and calibrate fire apparatus systems to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fluid changes, and filter replacements.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment serviced.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in fire apparatus technology and industry standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all repair and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for repairs and maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and fire department personnel regarding repair status and recommendations.
