About The Position
Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is a leading manufacturer of Utility Trucks and Equipment with a rich history spanning 30 years. With 40 locations across the USA, over 2500 employees, and a rental fleet exceeding 10,000 trucks. We are hiring a Field Service Technician / Mechanic with a background in truck mounted hydraulics, electrical wiring, and diesel equipment. You will perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repair of CTOS equipment. This role is primarily performed on customer sites, with occasional shop support. The Field Service Technician will be the go-to expert for customers across their region—diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining highly specialized truck-mounted equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of related experience (field or shop tech)
- Valid driver’s license (CDL Class B preferred)
- Must provide your own mechanic tools
- Travel 25 -50% plus
- Proficiency using documentation software and managing time effectively
- Background in truck mounted hydraulics, electrical wiring, and diesel equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Electrical, hydraulics, welding, and schematic/blueprint reading
- Diagnostic software experience (QuickServe, DTNA, etc.)
- DOT, ANSI, and dielectric testing experience
- CDL Class B
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Bucket trucks / aerial devices, Digger derricks, Truck-mounted cranes (LMI & CAN-bus systems), Hydraulic utility equipment & major components, Heavy- and light-duty truck chassis, diesel, and electrical systems.
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and on-site diagnostics.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and repair orders.
- Use laptops and diagnostic software to identify issues.
- Complete documentation accurately (repair orders, timecards, inspection forms).
- Communicate with customers and CTOS teams to minimize downtime.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing CTOS and manufacturer training.
- Travel within and occasionally beyond your assigned territory.
