About The Position

The Field Service Apprentice role empowers the incumbent with the authority to execute all listed duties and responsibilities. In the event of a conflict of authority, the incumbent shall elevate to their direct supervisor for resolution. This apprenticeship is expected to last up to two years and involves learning to maintain a high level of focus on customer satisfaction, assisting with installs and services, and providing telephone technical assistance. The role requires travel throughout North America and Worldwide, assisting with training sessions, and interacting with engineering and manufacturing departments regarding equipment failures. The apprentice will document field trips, record paperwork, read and understand test reports, prioritize workloads, and learn to operate various equipment and systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform simple math functions.
  • Ability to accurately use measuring instruments.
  • Willingness to provide basic tools required for the position.
  • Willingness to train as required.
  • Ability to understand shop pick lists.
  • Ability to travel related to the job and accurately report time to job assignments.
  • Ability to read and understand SOP’s and FDA/GMP’s.
  • Willingness to work in an office environment or travel up to 2 weeks per month as required.
  • High School Diploma/GED or comparable experience required.
  • Ability to follow direction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cohesively with others.
  • Ability to learn to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Must be capable of reading and understanding test reports and prioritizing workloads.
  • Must be capable of driving a forklift.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety policies, including lock-out/tag-out.
  • EPA refrigeration certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, controllers, hydraulics, calibrators, and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work space.
  • Maintain and organize a fully operational service vehicle.
  • Turn in job expenses weekly or bi-weekly for job costing purposes.
  • Ensure company-related credit cards are paid in a timely fashion without penalty fees.
  • Properly maintain and turn in calibration equipment at required intervals.
  • Learn to maintain a high level of focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with installs and services requiring extensive knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, controllers, hydraulics, calibrators, and pneumatics.
  • Provide telephone technical assistance as required.
  • Travel throughout North America and Worldwide when required.
  • Assist with training sessions at Service Seminars or at customer facilities.
  • Interact with engineering and manufacturing departments regarding in-house and field equipment failures.
  • Document field trips and properly record paperwork.
  • Read and understand test reports and prioritize workloads.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Understand and adhere to electrical safety policies, including lock-out/tag-out.
  • Obtain EPA refrigeration certification.
  • Train to have a working knowledge of CRM database and Visual Manufacturing to review and enter data.
  • Train to have a working knowledge of computer systems, including Industrial Engineering drives, the latest version of Windows OS, MS Outlook, and Word, Excel.
  • Train how to operate vacuum pumps, PID controls, and work with low voltages.
