About The Position

Toast is expanding its innovative POS platform into new food and beverage concepts like convenience stores, grocery stores, and bottle shops. This role requires a founder's mindset to grow Toast's presence in this new vertical with the Toast Retail platform. The District Manager will spearhead the Canadian Retail launch, initially focusing on personal sales, shaping the Go-To-Market strategy, and then building a sales team. Toast offers an all-in-one platform designed to help restaurateurs and retailers manage their operations, boost sales, engage customers, and improve employee satisfaction. As a Founding District Manager, you will be among the first sales leaders for the Canadian Retail Sales team, playing a crucial role in the growth of the Toast brand in Canada. Reporting to the Regional Vice President of Retail Sales, you will be instrumental in launching the Canadian presence, securing early successes, and subsequently building and scaling the sales team. Collaboration with enablement, onboarding, and product teams will be key to understanding the unique needs of Retail operators and developing solutions that foster their success. We are seeking a passionate, entrepreneurial leader to launch and grow the Toast brand in this new market. This role involves managing and supporting field-based account executives. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to Toronto.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales experience in a sourcing and/or closing role
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Proven track record of success
  • Passionate with the ability to inspire and motivate those around them
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, creative, and flexible with the ability to perform well under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, motivate, and manage a quota-achieving sales team
  • Coach the team on a full cycle sales process, including conducting efficient discovery meetings, live demos, and crafting solution proposals
  • Provide coaching and empowerment through field visits, including walk-ins, prospecting, trade shows, and local business partnerships to help exceed quotas
  • Partner and collaborate with peers and parallel teams across the business to ensure sales process expectations are met in delivery
  • Strategically utilize Salesforce (CRM) and other technology to drive productivity, report on forecast deal pipelines, and analyze conversion rates
  • Be accountable for new business growth across the assigned district
