About The Position

We are looking for a Field Sales Representative III for Crop Protection in Northwest IL to achieve assigned targets with Bayer products in coordination with squad-mates. This role is responsible for the successful delivery of squad goals through supporting others' role responsibilities. The Field Sales Rep III will develop and implement dealer business plans, manage forecasting, inventory, and product line demand, set business direction, and coordinate follow-ups with dealers to drive business results. This role serves as a key business consultant to retailers and dealers, effectively selling the value of Bayer Crop Science products and demonstrating product performance against competitors. The representative will collaborate with internal teams including Field Sales Representatives (FSR), Customer Business Advisors (CBA), Technical Agronomists (TA), and Digital Enablement Leads (DEL), as well as Technology Development Representatives (TDR) to maximize services, information, and sales to preferred growers and key customer accounts. Active management of inventory concerns is crucial to ensure business objectives are met while anticipating demand and potential bottlenecks. The role involves gathering, assimilating, and analyzing market and competitive information, utilizing data for key decisions, and developing/recommending strategies for long and short business plans for key accounts and the assigned area. Effective management of expenses, discretionary dollars, and program payments is expected to drive top and bottom-line growth. The individual will independently work to expand selling skills and product/portfolio knowledge, while also mentoring peers and teammates. Ensuring achievement of program execution and fulfillment, including national/regional marketing initiatives, is a key responsibility. The role involves taking a leadership position in partnering with squad-mate FSRs/CBAs and managing relationships with top growers and retailers, acting as the business expert for these key stakeholders and planning for their business needs. Proactive mentoring and coaching of earlier-in-career FSRs is also expected. The representative will manage area claims per Bayer Crop Science policy and process through effective problem-solving, execution, administration, and resource management. Travel is approximately 60% with significant daily face-to-face customer interaction. The goal is to grow market share of Crop Protection/Seed and Trait business and create demand for seed growth, seed and trait, and chemistry within the territory. This position reports to the Business Unit Lead and routinely works with the Agronomic Services team, Strategic/Key Account Managers, S&T/CP field sales reps and managers, Marketing, Customer Care team, and Financial Analyst. Occasional interaction with the Strategic Business Leader is expected. Externally, the role interacts with Growers and Key customer accounts.

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel and live/work in a rural environment.

  • Position requires driving for the company that may fall under DOT/FMCSA jurisdiction. This may entail the hauling of trailers, product, supplies or equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ability to pass driving record background check (i.e. moving violations, accidents, License suspension, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor degree with 6 + year experience in sales, marketing, account management or agriculture OR other education level and 10+ years listed experience.
  • Demonstrated product, portfolio and agronomic knowledge.
