About The Position

BSN SPORTS, a Varsity Brands Company, is the largest team athletic goods equipment and apparel distributor in the United States with over 50 years of experience. Our mission is to save coaches and administrators time by providing excellent service platforms, allowing them more time to impact young lives. This Field Sales Professional role is a full-time, hybrid position requiring the individual to live and travel within the assigned territory 2-5 days per week. The role operates in a hybrid environment between a home office, school, community, and event settings, focusing on territory sales and managing local client relationships to maximize sales opportunities. The compensation includes a base draw range of $55,000-$70,000 annually, with potential for additional performance-based incentives. The base salary is determined by factors such as education, experience, qualifications, location, internal equity, and market alignment. Hours may vary based on customer needs, and evenings and weekends may be required. Travel is primarily local to schools and organizations within the territory, with occasional out-of-the-area and overnight travel expected.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a high level of self-direction and autonomy in managing tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
  • Possess excellent problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiently prioritize and manage tasks, demonstrating strong time management skills.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and CRM.
  • Cultivate an in-home office environment that is distraction-free.
  • 3+ years' business-to-business (B2B) outside sales experience (preferably in sporting goods) OR coaching/sports-related background.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have and maintain a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a consultative partner to schools, club select and travel programs, youth leagues, YMCA organizations, and other community-based athletic programs within the assigned territory.
  • Drive full-cycle sales execution, including proactive prospecting, lead generation, account management, and post-sale service.
  • Deliver best-in-class support to simplify operations for coaches and program leaders.
  • Leverage CRM tools, data insights, and disciplined territory planning to identify growth opportunities.
  • Expand multi-sport penetration within existing accounts.
  • Build a strong pipeline of new business.
  • Engage consistently in-person and manage strong relationships.
  • Provide consultative customer service to coaches across an assigned territory.
  • Generate revenue and meet sales/growth targets.
  • Actively develop and qualify leads within the respective territory through cold-calling and lead generation campaigns.
  • Navigate multiple functions within the company’s CRM, including prospecting, account management, and activity tracking.
  • Increase sales in existing accounts by selling to all sports at all levels.
  • Utilize data-driven business intelligence on prospects to identify new trends and opportunities.
  • Manage account lists and travel on location within the assigned territory.
