As a Field Sales Agronomist at Central Valley Ag, you will be responsible for becoming a trusted advisor to area producers to supply them with their ag input needs. This role involves creating and developing intimate relationships with targeted customers, soliciting new business, and delivering timely and accurate communication to drive value-added sales. You will develop and implement agronomic solutions to improve customer ROI and increase the agronomy bottom line, utilizing tools such as seed, precision farming technology, finance, and marketing to grow market share. The position requires managing customer accounts, including developing whole farm plans, forecasting inputs, price negotiations, technical coordination, contract preparation and closure, complaint resolution, and collections. You will also partner with other team members to improve efficiency and profitability, expand knowledge of agronomic products and trends, and make educated recommendations to producers. Ethical selling of agronomy products using current marketing programs, products, services, and resources is essential. The role involves providing timely and accurate communications, demand forecasts, sales reports, and competitive pricing requests. Establishing and maintaining effective public relations through customer education and promotion of new products and services is key. You will support the Agronomy Superintendent with agronomic recommendations, consult with producers on fertilizer, seed, chemical, and GPS products/services, and maintain the current customer base while developing new business. This position is responsible for developing and carrying out the agronomy marketing program for the location, maintaining high customer satisfaction through professional complaint handling, and calling on prospective producers to build new business and increase sales. Facilitating logistics for custom application equipment and products, discussing promotions and field problems with the supervisor, and keeping the supervisor informed of sales trends are also part of the responsibilities. You will provide weekly reports on inventory activity to management, assist in plant operations and field scouting, and support other employees in achieving company goals. Participation in company-required training programs and the agronomy mentoring program is expected. You will support Central Valley Ag’s RD platform by working with the Agronomy Consultative Service Manager to participate in RD platform series events, ensure proper billing procedures, and comply with credit policies. Maintaining and promoting a safe work environment is also a responsibility. Other duties as assigned.
