The Field Safety Supervisor monitors safety and health regulations and provides technical support to plant and personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. This role works closely with various departments including project management, human resources, legal, operations, and research and development. The supervisor provides technical safety and health support and information to field and corporate personnel, enforces safety and health programs and policies, and identifies company safety training needs, developing and coordinating training programs. The position also involves participating in new product/process reviews, supporting the implementation of engineering controls to minimize hazards, and assisting field personnel in selecting appropriate personal protective equipment. Additionally, the role includes maintaining the corporate safety library, promoting safety and health awareness, and serving as a member of executive and company occupational safety and health committees. Responsibilities also extend to assisting with hazard communication programs, reviewing process-operating procedures for safety considerations, understanding and monitoring federal and state occupational safety and health regulations, auditing plant practices and records, monitoring lost-time injuries and worker’s compensation claims, and reviewing incident investigation reports. The role also involves developing and coordinating safety planning documents such as SWPs and JSAs.
