About The Position

The Field Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing safety leadership and compliance oversight across Tri-State General Contractors' active jobsites throughout California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Colorado. This role works closely with the Safety & Compliance Team, General Superintendents, Field Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, and customer representatives to proactively identify hazards, reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote safe work practices. The Field Safety Coordinator serves as a visible safety resource in the field and is expected to lead by example, coach employees and subcontractors, and provide practical safety solutions that support both compliance and project production goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of construction safety experience in commercial construction, retail remodels, industrial construction, or multi-trade environments.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification required.
  • Experience with safety inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Conduct jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA, Tri-State, customer, and site-specific requirements.
  • Support pre-construction planning, project startups, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and safety program implementation.
  • Provide safety training and participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and superintendent meetings.
  • Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, and compliance databases.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and address safety deficiencies with project teams.
  • Support SWPPP and applicable environmental compliance requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between field Operations and the Safety & Compliance Department.
  • Promote Tri-State's Safety Champions Program and proactively address safety concerns while supporting project goals.
