About The Position

The Field Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment by proactively identifying safety risks, monitoring field operations, and advocating for best practices in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance. This role plays a critical part in maintaining and enforcing safety programs, policies, and regulatory requirements while fostering a strong safety culture among field personnel. The position requires frequent field visits, collaboration with leadership, and engagement in training and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of hazard identification, safety controls, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency with HSE-related reporting tools, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and data analysis software.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a consultative approach to safety compliance.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with field personnel, contractors, and customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for training and safety documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to long and irregular hours, changing work locations, and demanding conditions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of HSE experience, preferably in oil & gas, energy, or industrial operations.
  • Working knowledge of well testing and production practices as they pertain to HSE.
  • Experience with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements applicable to oil & gas or industrial environments.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Works in close collaboration with the Regional Manager, Product Line Operations Managers, and Corporate HSE Manager to ensure seamless support and alignment across operations.
  • Actively engage with field and shop personnel to assess and mitigate safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Evaluate and enforce compliance with company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify system-level HSE gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Support crews in performing their jobs safely, prioritizing engineering and administrative controls before PPE.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety procedures and programs across all departments.
  • Monitor and maintain records of hazardous waste, air emissions, water pollution, and industrial health exposures in accordance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Serve as the process champion for KPA, PROM PTT, and other field-related data collection tools.
  • Organize and lead training programs, including monthly safety meetings, Smith Systems, PEC Safeland and Core, OSHA-mandated training, and any additional management-directed sessions.
  • Investigate and report incidents, support accident investigations, and oversee claims management, including injured worker follow-ups.
  • Respond to significant incidents as directed by Regional and Corporate Management teams. This may include transporting injured personnel to seek medical care and accompanying them to follow-up visits to assist in the management of claims.
  • Maintain contingency plans, including fire prevention, hazardous material spill response, and emergency action plans.
  • Provide guidance and necessary resources to field personnel for effective HSE program implementation.
  • Support environmental compliance efforts as needed, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.
  • Maintain and distribute spare Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for field operations.
  • Develop safety inspection policies and establish regular audit schedules to ensure compliance.
  • Utilize leading indicator reporting to analyze trends and drive proactive safety engagement.
  • Collaborate with leadership, customer representatives, and contractors to uphold and enhance workplace safety standards.
  • Accident Investigation Training and experience responding to significant incidents.
  • Experience developing and executing safety programs and training.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work and reside in the U.S.
  • Must pass and maintain client-required random drug tests.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
