About The Position

Summit Line Construction, a subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc., is a leading utility construction company specializing in powerline and substation construction and maintenance. As we expand our national operations, we are seeking a motivated Safety Advisor to join our team in Santa Teresa, NM. This role is crucial in assisting the division with the planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and DOT. The Safety & Training Advisor will play a key role in reinforcing a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • High school graduate and/or GED equivalent
  • 2 years minimum related experience (ideally within power line construction)
  • Understanding of Federal and State safety regulations and training requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and experience with web-based tracking software.
  • Must complete pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 certification and/or related safety certification, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying training needs and gaps, and propose training/education plans to fill gaps.
  • Offer specific training programs to help workers maintain or improve job skills.
  • Provide training to field personnel through tailboards and briefings.
  • Evaluate Safety, Health, and Environmental (HSE) education and training programs.
  • Assist in developing training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
  • Support Company HSE training to ensure it complies with state and federal regulations.
  • Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
  • Audit job sites to ensure all employees are following proper HSE procedures.
  • Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective measures.
  • Complete near miss/good catch reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate incident reporting.
  • Follow up on corrective actions to ensure completion and effectiveness.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively and maintain working relationships with employees, supervisory personnel, state and local officials, consultants, and sub-contractors.
  • Provide support on sensitive/critical projects.
  • Support Corporate HSE Initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of HSE programs.
  • Support post-incident investigations.
  • Perform analysis and trending of HSE statistics and metrics to proactively monitor safety performance.
  • Have a general understanding of environmental rules and regulations.
