About The Position

West Penn Heavy Haul LLC is looking for an experienced Field Safety Advisor to support our heavy haul transportation and rig moving operations throughout the Appalachian Basin. This is a hands-on, field-focused safety position for someone who enjoys working directly with employees and operations teams rather than spending their day behind a desk. You will be a visible safety resource in the field—conducting audits and observations, coaching employees, supporting supervisors, investigating incidents, and helping ensure our operations meet company, DOT, OSHA, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate has experience in heavy haul, trucking, oil & gas, construction, or a similar industry and understands the unique safety challenges associated with commercial transportation, oversize/overweight loads, rig moving, and specialized hauling.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of safety experience in heavy haul, trucking, oil & gas, construction, or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations and commercial motor vehicle compliance.
  • Understanding of load securement, oversize/overweight transportation, rigging, crane support, and lifting operations.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, field observations, and incident investigations.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to build relationships while holding employees accountable to safety standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic safety reporting systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout our operating areas.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, CHST, CSP, or other safety certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistent safety presence across heavy haul and rig moving operations.
  • Conduct field safety audits, inspections, observations, and employee coaching.
  • Work directly with drivers, riggers, operators, and supervisors to reinforce safe work practices.

  • Participate in pre-job planning, JSAs, tailgate meetings, and operational safety meetings.
  • Observe and coach employees on load securement, rigging, lifting, equipment inspections, and safe operating practices.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and assist with corrective actions.
  • Support driver coaching, accident reviews, safety trends, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain safety records, inspection documentation, training records, and compliance files.
  • Provide safety training and coaching to new and existing employees.
  • Partner with Operations, Dispatch, Fleet Maintenance, HR, customers, and leadership to address safety concerns and improve performance.
  • Communicate field safety concerns and recommendations to management.
