About The Position
This is a part-time position focused on assisting with field corn breeding research at the agronomy farm. The role involves various tasks related to seed preparation, planting, crop management, data collection, sample processing, and seed handling.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check.
- Must successfully complete background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
- Must operate a motor vehicle as part of job duties.
Responsibilities
- Prepare corn seeds for machine planting at the agronomy farm.
- Assist in planting, corn crop management, and follow agronomic practices.
- Collect various plant data starting from seed germination to maturity.
- Collect and bring samples to the lab for PCR based genotyping.
- Perform crosses and selves of selected plants.
- Harvest and send samples for analysis.
- Perform seed collection, drying, storage, and cataloguing.
