About The Position

Under general supervision, the Research Assistant provides routine technical support for assigned and delegated research tasks. The role assists with or conducts scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, and collects, evaluates, and interprets data for clinical and diagnostic research. Work is performed in a research or clinical laboratory setting and includes clerical and technical duties, support for research studies and assays, routine testing, and general laboratory maintenance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a basic science.
Attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy.
Ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
Ability to monitor multiple important and complex projects concurrently within a research or laboratory schedule.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes or other email software.

Responsibilities

Provide routine technical assistance with assigned and delegated research tasks.
Perform assigned clerical and technical duties in a research or clinical laboratory setting.
Assist investigators or higher-level technicians with research studies, experiments, and assays, including data collection, solution preparation, and equipment setup and maintenance.
Perform routine tests under the direction of a supervisor, manager, or higher-level technician.
Assist with scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, including collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data.
Carry out general laboratory maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
