About The Position

This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work and must not require employer sponsorship. The Field Relief Manager, under the direction of the Marketing Company President (MCP), provides relief for General Managers, Area Field Managers, Traffic Control Manager, and Storage Managers during vacations and absences of up to two weeks for reasons such as attending certification classes. The role involves executing all duties of the "fill-in" position as if they were the normally assigned responsibilities. The Field Relief Manager performs on-the-job reviews of center operations, area field routes, and reservation management areas using prescribed tools like the FRM Checklist and Dealer Service Report (DSR). Duties also include profitable management, ordering products, correcting rental and retail inventories, setting up displays, and promoting U-Haul rental equipment according to U-Haul standards. The role assists the MCP in planning and implementing new marketing programs and ensuring the timely completion of assigned projects. A thorough understanding of U-Haul policies and procedures is essential. Note: Essential duties are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.

  • It is mandatory that all accidents and injuries be reported immediately to supervisor.
  • Must maintain just-in-time production methods, along with total quality control at the source of the work being performed.
  • Must read company publications such as “U-Haul News”; U-Haul Technical newsletters, and other publications provided by supervisor to understand U-Haul’s Primary Service Objective (to provide better and better product and service to more and more people at a lower and lower cost.)
  • Must use integrity and discretion in safeguarding confidential data handled or obtained in the normal performance of duties.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Relieve center managers, area field managers, traffic control managers, and storage managers during vacations and one to two weeks of absence such as for attending certification classes.
  • Use discretion and independent judgment to apply existing and new UHI programs to standardize and systemize each and every operation.
  • Complete FRM Checklists, correcting any deficiency and make recommendations to MCP for review of operations and procedures.
  • Reinforce Customer Service Reps (CSR) skills learned in the 123 punch program, such as receiving and dispatching, precision selling, customer service, pre safety tow inspections, hitch and accessory installations, scheduling of equipment and personnel, Safety Certifications, Quick Claim, etc.
  • Perform storage walk-throughs, review ready to rent procedures, review files for completion, monitor competition, review procedures for increasing occupancy and decreasing delinquencies.
  • Follow AFM business plan, perform DSRs, dealer openings, closing, prospecting and ensure serviceability of AFM rig and route compliance according to policies and procedures.
  • Verify timely completion of Equipment Damage Report (EDR), Starburst rates, traffic boards, equipment recoveries licensing, customer service procedures, and disposition of unrented and repair of equipment.
  • Monitor ordering and receiving procedures using the Daily Order Status Report, monitor inventory accuracy by performing cycle counts when at a center, make adjustments as needed and follow up with GM and MCP upon GM’s return.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned including to assist in the recovery of lost or stolen U-Haul property and equipment.
  • The person assigned to this job is subject to performing any duties relating to serving the customer.
