The Field Quality Coordinator, reporting to the Construction Quality Manager, supports project staff (superintendents, site coordinators, subcontractors, inspectors) in organizing, documenting, and implementing Quality Assurance activities. This role is crucial for core construction project components and the effective use of the Quality Management System's tools and processes. The coordinator conducts reviews and assurance activities through random inspections, testing, and surveillance to ensure subcontractors and construction teams meet all contractual quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an acceptable combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality development on infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
  • Strong organization, time management, and detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for quality, with the ability to motivate teams, enforce, and comply with quality requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience with CSA A23.1/A23.3/A23.4/G-30.18-09/W47.1/W59-18/ and other relevant Canadian specifications.
  • Team player with the ability to meet deadlines, targets, and objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in buildings construction, architectural/electrical finishes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures quality requirements compliance, including inspection, testing, and installation of complete systems.
  • Assists and reviews quality documentation, including inspection and test plans, inspection checklists, quality records, and 3rd party reports, ensuring compliance with project quality requirements.
  • Prepares and implements inspections and activities on construction site locations per ITPs, collaborating with labs, consultants, Engineers, and/or stakeholders.
  • Ensures construction field inspectors perform in-process inspections, monitoring, witness tests, and release completed stages according to approved ITPs and project requirements.
  • Cooperates with superintendents, coordinators, and construction management to report quality compliance based on testing and inspection reports.
  • Supports construction roles in performing subcontractor quality control.
  • Manages consultant and third-party notifications, ensuring their presence for critical inspection activities like hold points defined in ITPs.
  • Assures construction inspection and testing activities are performed, maintains the quality traceability system, ensures final product deliveries are received on time, and documentation is complete for turnover.
  • Verifies, monitors, and maintains calibration records to confirm the reliability of all measuring instruments and equipment.
  • Communicates inspection findings for self-performed and subcontracted work, evaluates inspection reports, and highlights issues or action items.
  • Monitors and enforces punch list completion and resolves all open items in a timely manner.
  • Identifies and reports non-compliant Construction Work and supplied product, and reviews/monitors the disposition of Non-Compliances against company quality standards and the project quality plan.
  • Carries out Quality reviews for construction work pack closeouts, ensuring inspection and testing activities are executed and results are ready for turnover.
  • Coordinates welding, concrete testing, non-destructive testing (NDT), and welder's qualification activities.
  • Assists, participates, and cooperates in all internal/external audits as required.
  • Collects documentation, coordinates test pack preparation, and final turnover documentation activities to comply with contractual documentation and ensure a smooth handover.
  • Performs other duties as required.
